GINGER BROOKS TAKAHASHI

Sheboygan Viewfinder at Cooper Elementary School

Sheboygan Viewfinder a public artwork installed at Cooper Elementary School in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. This work is located where a culverted stream flows, formerly known as Second Creek, replacing an existing stormwater manhole cover, making visible and audible the underground stream.

The design refers to the openings in lotus seed heads, as well as to ancient Japanese sword protectors. Like sword protectors, which are both decorative and functional, the Viewfinders protect the underground waterway, as well as the viewer.
