LESBIANS TO THE RESCUE

"Sprinkled in this text we find many opportunities to imagine ourselves, many moments to perform our symptoms for each other and create the space to question our development as artists, workers, and thinkers. We're here to reconstitute a new team under an old threat, to embrace our historical birth into feminist sexes and to move with the brilliant bodies, languages, identities and arts this long walk has produced..." (from Emily Roydson's editorial statement) Interviews, articles, photographs and other art works from Amber Ibarreche, Andrea Geyer, Cass Bird, Courtney Dailey, Dean Spade, Dusty Lombardo, Emily Roysdon, Ginger Brooks Takahashi, Gloria Maximo, JD Samson, K8 Hardy, Lauren Cornell, Leidy McIlvaine Churchman, Lisa Charbonneau, Mary McAllister, Rhani Lee Remedes, Sharon Hayes, Sophie Morner, Tara Mateik, and Yvette Choy. Multiples include farby bookmark by Allison Smith and a hand-printed door hanger by Ginger Brooks Takahashi.

PRACTICE MORE FAILURE

In LTTR #3 -titled "Practice More Failure" -the selected articles and projects emphasize process and practice over product. We arrived at a seemingly traditional form, using a silkscreened manila envelope as both its binding and storage pouch. Folded in half and tied with a lavender ribbon, the envelope unfolds to reveal a sewn booklet glued onto the lower half. This book contains essays, fiction, images and projects by Itziar Okariz, Boris Torres, Emily Roysdon, Tammy Rae Carland, Zara Zandieh, Judith Leeman, Elisabeth Subrin, Marriage, Marie-Thérèse Escribano & Ulrike Muller, Eileen Myles, Christy Gast, Suzy Liar, Allison Smith, Aisha Burns, Kate Schatz, K8 Hardy, Lynne Chan J. Ely Shipley, and Edie Fake. Every fourth page pulls out into a four-panel full color poster. The glued pad binding allows readers the option to easily separate pages into individual posters. Stuffed into the top portion of the envelope are a poster project by Carrie Moyer, a fold out instruction pamphlet on how to tie a saree by Jesal Kapadia and a sealed set of IOUs by Michelle Marchese.
